on New Words

I’m adding three new words to the dictionary.

Mbuh is a Javanese word that means exactly like it sounds – lower lips forward – like meh, but better.

Veline is an Italian term from the 80s that came to mean young girls with no talent except the desire to be on television (this I read in an article about Berlusconi).

Anyhoo, is now officially in the dictionary – included as of Sept 15 in the Oxford English Dictionary.

OUP also publishes Historical Thesaurus of the Oxford English Dictionary, the largest thesaurus in the world, and the first historical Thesaurus in any language – this coming October.
I wonder how big the thing is.
